The Startup20 Engagement Group, under the India G20 Presidency, is delighted to announce ‘Startup20 Shikhar’- the summit meeting of Startup20, slated to take place in Gurugram on July 3rd and 4th, 2023, The summit, aptly named "Shikhar," which translates to "mountain peak" in Sanskrit, symbolizes the pinnacle of achievements in shaping the future of the global startup ecosystem.

The Startup20 Engagement Group of the G20 kicked off its third meeting, the Goa Sankalpana, with an atmosphere of unwavering energy and determination today in Goa. The day commenced with the presentation of the eagerly anticipated Policy Communiqué, followed by a series of engaging sessions and addresses, driving the conversation on startup innovation and collaboration.

Startup20 aims to create a global narrative for supporting startups and enabling synergies between corporates, investors, innovation agencies, ecosystem enablers, and startups.

With over one million startups, 10,000 incubators and accelerators, and 750 unicorns, the G20 nations are at the forefront of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Delegates from more than 15 countries participated in the the meeting that started on Saturday

The two-day meeting in Goa ended on a positive note with all participating delegations agreeing on the policy communique drafted during the conference, Dr Chintan Vaishnav, chair of StartUp20 Engagement Group, told reporters.

Dr Chintan Vaishnav, the chairperson of Startup20, believes that Goa has the potential to become a thriving startup hub in a few years with the right support and resources.

G20 is the largest multilateral platform in operation, with its member states representing more than 85 per cent of the world's GDP and two-thirds of the human population and holding a key role in managing talks over future international economic growth.

The two-day founding meeting of the Startup 20 Engagement Group, set up under India’s G20 chairmanship, began in Hyderabad on Saturday. G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, Startup-20 President Chintan Vaishnav, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Secretary Anurag Jain and G-20 Secretariat JS Ashish Sinha JS were present in the meeting. The inaugural meeting of the Startup 20 Engagement Group was attended by 180 delegates from G-20 member states and stakeholders apart from nine special invitees. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also addressed the delegates through a video message.

The Startup 20 engagement group established under the G20 after India assumed the presidency held its first meeting on January 28–29.The group will look at development of policy recommendations on entrepreneurship and innovation goals of and across G20 nations for the years to come.

Startup20 aspires to create a global narrative for supporting startups and enabling synergies between startups, corporates, investors, innovation agencies and other key ecosystem stakeholders. The primary objective is to harmonise the global startup ecosystem through a collaborative and forward-looking approach.

The Startup20 inception meeting has concluded in Hyderabad on Sunday. The purpose of the group is to provide a platform for startups from G20 countries to work together on issues such as funding gaps and employment opportunities. During the meeting, Som Parkash discussed the role of startups in driving the global economy and the importance of creating a collaborative network of stakeholders. Amitabh Kant focused on startups providing solutions to global issues, while Iyer emphasized India's position as a key innovator. The Secretary of the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Anurag Jain, also spoke about India's vision for the G20 Presidency and the creation of Startup20.
